It is always SO exciting to write a post and have readers telling me they can't wait for the sequel! Makes me really happy to share my stories with you guys! =D Thank you for making me happy! =DDDDD
I really wanted to churn out this post quickly but it's really hard work, you know! All that editing and making side-by-sides and adding text and writing and all. *wipes sweat. I spent at least 12 hours for each post.
But it's worth it, every time! π I love knowing that people appreciate what I do and more so when I can help them better their lives even in the tiniest ways.
You would have read in My Smile Makeover At Orchard Scotts Dental - Part 1 the things I didn't like about my original smile. Here's a recap:
The uneven gum line was corrected via Laser Gum Recontouring. Changes for everything else, you'll see in this post!
EXCITING, ISN'T IT!?! ^_^ I AM ALSO VERY EXCITED TYPING THIS!!! HOHOHO!!!
Visit 4 - Getting temporaries
So many moulds!
Check out the needles in the background. 😖 Even though I've been to countless dental appointments, I still hate going to the dentist! I've had my share of encounters with dentists who were uncaring, rough-handling, and had BAD BREATH (OMG I wanted to die!). Going to Orchard Scotts Dental and having Dr Jerry fix my teeth was such a major upgrade.
Getting ready for the procedure with Dr Jerry. We're getting Temporary Veneers today! They call it 'Temporaries' for short.
I was given headphones that played soothing music while Dr Jerry worked on preparing my teeth for the Temporaries.
Orchard Scotts Dental was in the midst of putting together their corporate video, so I was asked if I was willing to be videographed.
Yeah, this is how I look every morning when I wake up - with nice makeup and teeth, and just a little bit of messy hair, just like in the movies. BAHAHA!!
Taking a look at my temporary veneers for the very first time. =D
This is a side-by-side comparison of my before and after temporary veneers. Difference in lighting aside, in the 'before' my smile looked hidden and the right front tooth was jutting out. In the 'after', my teeth looked more aligned and brighter, and I took a FRONTAL SHOT! I never dared to take frontal shots and rarely from my right because of the yellow teeth and slightly crooked teeth on the right.
SO HAPPY!!! π
From the left:
From the right!!! (VERY RARE)
You can see bumps on my face because I was still recovering from the horrifying facial incident. It's even more obvious in the video because of close-up shots. BOO.Β
GOODBYE OLD SMILE (below)! Don't have to find specific angles no more!
My temporary veneers fell out!
During my sleep on the night of getting the temporary veneers (sometimes referred to as 'temporaries'), I suddenly felt something in my mouth - it was hard and awkward and I immediately spat it out and left it on my bedside. When I awoke I laughed to myself for having such a silly dream.
When I saw myself in the mirror I BURST OUT LAUGHING!!!
IT WAS REAL!!! MY TEMPORARIES REALLY FELL OUT!! I laughed for a really long time. LOL.
I tried to place them back but they wouldn't stay, of course. LOL. TOO FUNNY. Luckily I didn't swallow them in my sleep.
You can see that the inner teeth on my right had turned yellow because I ate some yellow bread the day before. Temporary veneers do stain, real ones don't.
For your information, temporary veneers are made of acrylic. Real porcelain veneers are made of specially crafted dental ceramic, and these thin shells fit right over the front portion of your teeth, enhancing the overall appearance by masking imperfections.
When temporaries are fitted they feel rough and don't feel as comfortable as real teeth, or for that matter, real veneers. The temporaries are usually fitted as one big block β like dentures β rather than as individual teeth.
This will not happen to real veneers!
I made for an urgent appointment to get my temporaries fixed because the exposed teeth underneath the temporaries were very sensitive, that and the fact that I looked hilarious.
Dr Jerry said I probably grind my teeth a lot when I sleep and that much abrasion caused my temporaries to fall out.
Fixed! =D
Visit 5 - Porcelain veneers
Dr Jerry and his team of nurses, who are always so friendly yet professional.
Dr Jerry meticulously placing the real veneers one by one.
Before Dr Jerry made the final bonding of Veneers, he lightly placed them on first to let me see if I liked them. My shade of veneers is B1. Here's me trying on B2.
Seeing my old tooth for the last time. You can see that the Veneers are slightly longer to give the appearance of a wider and fuller smile.
Comparing photos from the previous session (Visit 4) with the final result (Visit 5). The Visit 4 photos are without the Temporaries.
Comparing photos from the very first session (Visit 1) OMG MY YELLOW TEETH. =.=" with the final result (Visit 5).
My goodness, what a great difference! =O
The final porcelain veneers are, of course, more natural-looking than those worn for the Smile Trial (Visit 2) and Temporary Veneers (Visit 4).
Let's take a moment to see how nice my teeth look now. Hohoho!
I love that the veneers look really natural. They don't look like those super duper white, eyes-blinding kind we see on some celebrities. Mine reflect light and there's a natural gradient to each and every tooth, just like real teeth.
Oh dear, something has to be done to my receding lower gums though. You can see from this above picture that the lower teeth are all facing inwards (they were pulled inwards for braces a long time ago). The longer I delay treatment, the more my gums will recede and that increases the chances of gum disease and other complications. This was later corrected with laser gum recontouring. After Laser Gum Recontouring my gum line is more even, and veneers made my teeth brighter and bigger.
Smile Makeover Before And After
Wow, can't believe we've come so far! π
I took a long time to make this chart, so please scroll up and take a look at it again. LOL!
Benefits of porcelain veneers:
- Extremely versatile: Can be used to solve various teeth issues such as gap between teeth, stained or discolored teeth, small or misshapen teeth, chipped or cracked teeth, misaligned teeth, etc.
- Undetectable: Porcelain veneers are made to resemble real teeth, in that they are partially translucent just like your normal teeth. This means that in natural light or artificial light, porcelain veneers will look just like normal teeth. No need to worry about a fake-looking smile! Many people have commented about my nicer and brighter smile, but they can't tell I've had veneers done!
- Easy maintenance: Porcelain veneers are very easy to care for. No special instructions or considerations are necessary; just brush/floss as you usually would and your porcelain veneers will look great.
SMILE!!! =)
I don't know what made me laugh so much! LOL! But I really did chuckle to myself while putting this collage together. Laughter is contagious, even your own. HAHAHAHAHA!!
I have a video for you!
(It feels very awkward watching yourself and hearing your own voice >.<" )
It was great fun filming but I was really bad with my lines! Dr Jerry always did a one-take while Rachell and I kept messing up our lines. 😂
In the video we also had Mr Gerhad, the doctor who artfully crafted each and every of my Veneers. Thank you, Mr Gerhad! π
Big THANK YOU to Dr Jerry for giving me my Smile Makeover so I now have a new, bright, radiant, full smile! YAYYY!!!
Now that the Smile Makeover is complete, I'll do something about the receding gums soon.
I cancelled the 'ugly' in 'ugly crown' because Dr Jerry made it less ugly by smoothing it out a little.
I really wouldn't know the actual price for each procedure. Each one of us is different, and so will our requirements for a Smile Makeover. You can always give them a call or drop them an email. The people at Orchard Scotts Dental are very friendly and professional, it's something I really appreciate! =)
I'll leave you with a picture of me laughing so wide you can see my new smile in its entirety. (Why do I keep laughing when I see this picture of myself laughing?!?!! LOL!!!)
As always, thanks for reading! =D
Just for fun: Which areas of your smile would you like to be improved? π
