MakeupGeek has had her Weekly Challenge going on for ages, but I’ve never participated. I used to look at the submissions and thought “Wow, are these people all makeup artists?? I could never do that.”
That was the time when my eye makeup was all but eyeliner and mascara. And I didn’t have bforbunbun.com to constantly push myself to explore new makeup products and looks.
I don’t know what sparked my interest this time. I don’t even know anything much about the culture and history of Native Americans. But I send in something this time, and had tremendous fun creating it!
So I went to google for pictures for inspiration. Found many, but they didn’t quite attract me.
Until I saw this:
I love the contrast of Obama’s formal black suit against the tribal war chief’s colorful head dress.
And so I did this!
The colors used were inspired by the chief's headdress - yellow, orange, red, black, and white.
I brought the eyeshadow colors beyond the eyebrows because........ because I felt artsy. Lol.
I don't know, I think Native Americans are very passionate people - passionate about their heritage, culture... so I chose this set of colors to sort of represent fire. Also, I'd imagine fire to be a very important source of energy for the Native Americans. (Pardon me for the lack of knowledge on their history.)
This hair accessory is the closest I have to Native American accessories. I tried!! XD
When I typed 'Native American' in Google Images, the Native Americans all had straight or fierce expressions. So I tried one with an attitude.
RARRRR!!
Not fierce enough, huh?
Maybe if I had bows and arrows and a full headdress of colorful feathers, I'd feel more in character.
I'm sure they do smile in real life. Like this:
