(Sorry I just had to use Japanese-looking fonts to bring out the Japanese-ness of this product - meaning EXCELLENCE. =D)
This must be one of the things I’m most grateful for discovering in my life!
The Daiso Detergent for Puff and Sponge has drastically reduced my makeup brushes washing time from 60 mins to just 20 mins. My Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush took up about 2/3 out of that hour because it is an incredibly difficult to wash brush with its incredible dense synthetic bristles.
The MAC Brush Cleanser did nothing to return my Sigma F80’s bristle tips to their original white color.
I will write a post soon, solely on how the Daiso Detergent pulled me out of my dirty-F80-brush depression (LOL!) within 5 seconds of using it.
Packaging
Honestly I wouldn’t have given this bottle a second look if not for the increasing number of positive reviews about this amazing brush cleanser. It looks so… random. HAHA.
Nobody can be blamed for assuming that this bottle with the word ‘Detergent’ is for clothing stain removal rather than for ‘puff and sponge’ (printed so small!), and certainly not for makeup brushes for that matter.
I can’t read the Japanese words on the bottle, but when translated, claim (sourced from many websites):
- Disinfecting and Fragrance-free and contains no pigment.
- Removes remaining foundation quickly.
- Keeps your makeup tools clean.
- Safe cleaner mostly composed of detergent kind to the skin and sponges.
I like the Daiso brush cleanser’s dispensing mechanism more than the MAC Brush Cleanser’s which spills whenever you open or close it. The Daiso brush cleanser comes in a squeezable plastic bottle with a flip top cap which ‘clicks’ when you close it, to indicate that it has been closed tightly. It does not spill even when you turn it upside down; nothing is wasted.
Consistency
It is thicker than liquid, but not as thick as gel. So it is just… runny. With that, you can easily control the amount needed for washing your makeup tools.
I also love its consistency because when you mix it in water, the concoction is a formula that is slightly thicker than water and it makes me imagine that the chemicals are clinging onto the bristles better. LOL
Why You NEED the Daiso Detergent For Puff And Sponge
Regular shampoo was enough for the previous fewer brushes I used to own, but the number of brushes I use have since doubled or tripled. Using just regular shampoo requires too much of my time standing at the sink, swirling and swirling each brush in my palm.
Even then, the shampoo method doesn’t deep clean foundation brushes used for liquid foundations or brush blushes well enough. It may be good enough for some people, but I prefer my brushes to look as clean as they originally were. ‘A little bit of staining’ is totally not acceptable to me.
With the Daiso Detergent, I can wash my eyeshadow and slightly larger blush brushes in less than 15 minutes! A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
The effect of using the Daiso brush cleanser on my eyeshadow brushes is not as dramatic as that of my Sigma Brush. From a crazy 40 minutes of intense scrubbing and abusing, the Daiso cleanser now effortlessly cleans the Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki Brush in less than 5 minutes, including shampooing and rinsing. Madness, I tell you, madness.
