Like many ladies out there, I am confident of answering, if a stranger walks up to me and asks “What lip product do you have in your bag?”.
I’d say the Estee Lauder Lip Conditioner SPF15 (I bring this everywhere I go), and then easily 1 or 2 lipglosses.
I am not a lipstick kind of girl; I’ve tried Sephora, NYX, Stage, Rimmel, L’Oreal, many more, but they just don’t become favorites as easily as lipglosses.
In fact, I’m not a lip product person at all. I’ll do the whole lip conditioner, sometimes lip pencil, then lipgloss routine when I’m done with my face and eye makeup, and that’ll be the only time I’ll be seen with anything on my lips for the rest of the day.
Asian-Specific Shades
I don’t know, but why can’t we just have all the shades, huh? I own 2 of the 6 Asian-specific shades – Rose Nu and Rose Grenat.
Rose Nu 06
Rose Grenat 395
Left: Rose Nu; Right: Rose Grenat
These are the 6 shades found on the Lancome Singapore website.
06 Rose Nu (rosy pink with subtle gold shimmer)
185 Orange Toffee
357 Rose Mythique
363 Rose Empire
365 Rose Absolu
395 Rose Grenat (mauve-maroon with less obvious glitter)
These are the 8 shades found n the Lancome US website.
Amandee Sucree
Champagne
Berry Noir
Exotic Orchis
Cherrywood Luxe
Blush Classique
Sienna Ultime
Rose Mythique
The only common shade is Rose Mythique, which is what Kate Winslet wears in the poster.
Looking at swatches of non-Asian-Specific shades (pffft!) by KarlaSugar, I can imagine I’d take to Blush Classique and Champagne a lot. I'm a pinky lip shade kinda girl.
Lotsa Benefits For That Pout
Lancome L’Absolu Creme de Brilliance was made to behave like a hybrid of lip balm, lipstick and lipgloss. It boosts hydration from within the skin with its anti-aging ingredient - Pro-Xylane™ Concentrated – and moisturizes the lips for up to 10 hours. The anti-aging molecules are said to stimulate cell activity too.
Oh well, I don’t blog about the great sciences behind products and am pretty sure a tiny swipe of lipgloss cannot really retard the forces of time, but it does a pretty decent job of staying creamy on the lips for some time.
But like most lipglosses, I would need to touch up every time after I eat and drink, which is very often. I love to lick my lips too.
Hydrating Lip Care
I like that the Lancome L’Absolu Creme de Brilliance creamy lipglosses leave my lips soft and moisturized, while at the same time feeling light on the lips.
Some lipglosses leave a heavy feeling behind, like you know there’s something thick on the lips, yet they do nothing to keep your pout hydrated. I avoid those with a vengeance. Sephora *cough* lipglosses *cough cough*
Weird fact about me: Somehow there’s a connection between my lips and nose. If my lips feel uncomfortable, I will feel that my nose is oily. Lol.
Lancome L’Absolu Creme de Brilliance creamy lipglosses don’t leave a thin film of residue behind either, unlike the NYX Mega Shine Lipglosses. As pigmented and pretty and plentiful in colors as they are, the NYX ones tend to leave my lips dry and flaky and sticky. Yet I still use them becoz they colors are so nice. Lol.
Good Pigmentation
It is a cross between a lipstick and a lipgloss because it has the rich color payoff of the former and shiny appearance of the latter.
Because of its intense pigmentation, it takes just one light swipe across the lips to achieve opacity with the Lancome L’Absolu Creme de Brilliance creamy lipgloss.
Pretty incredible.

I also like that it is shiny, yet doesn’t make me look I had just eaten a plate of oily barbecued meat and didn’t wipe my mouth. However the shine doesn't last very long. After a while, the shine fades but doesn't become flat like a lipstick.
Special Applicator
The thing that sets the Lancome L’Absolu Creme de Brilliance lipglosses apart from other lipglosses is its specially shaped sponge-tip applicator.
It grabs just the right amount of product out of the tube so that the tip is not thick with product and you have to wipe the excess off.
The bent applicator also allows for more precise and smoother application. The wand fits the shape of the lips, so getting color on the bow and contours of the lips is mess-free and easy.
Nice Rose Fragrance
The fainy rosy smell is a nice welcome to the usual cherry smell I always experience with NYX glosses. It tastes slightly sweet on the lips, but disappears after I’ve licked my lips a few times.
All in all, I quite like the Lancome L’Absolu Creme De Brilliance Lipgloss. If only I were more of a lip product wearer.
