Happy new year! 😀  I’ve been having end-of-year blues since November and couldn’t wait for the last second of the year to pass. 2016 felt like a reeeaaallly long year to me and I couldn’t wait for it to be over. Nothing changed at the strike of midnight, but I instantly felt like I had a whole new 365 days of endless possibilities displayed in front of me.
A brand new year means getting a year older. But age is nothing more than a number. Right? While everyone should be able to wear whatever they want whenever they want, style does change with age. I find myself moving away from colorful stuff and more towards simple ensembles. Less complicated, more minimalistic.
Here are some pieces I chose from Le Contour, an online store focused on getting the right apparel fit and size for women.
Look 1: Little Black Leather Dress
SLEEVELESS DRESS WITH FAUX LEATHER PANEL-BLACK
When I took this dress out of the bag, I gasped. Without even tearing open the transparent packaging I could already tell that the quality is way above average. When I tried it on, the quality of this dress proved to be SUPERIOR.
The top part is made of Roma Knitting, a thick but not heat-retaining material, sewn to a leather skirt with gold zippers, giving it a more stylish edge. Bodycon and tight-fit dresses are not my cup of tea, so I really like that this drop waist panel dress provides a sleek silhouette without betraying any unsightly bulge. Heh heh.
I wear size S for this.
Look 2: Elegantly & Girly
SLEEVELESS FLARE DRESS - ROYAL BLUE
Before I chose my dresses, Le Contour advised me to explore their fitting guide page, which provides tips on how best to dress for your figure.
Tips for bottom balancing figure (hips > bust):Â
- Choose loose tops, boat neck tops, or off shoulder tops.
- Bright coloured tops, and wearable neck accessories would help draw attention to upper body.
- Shop for simple design and darker coloured bottom piece.
- Dress type: Mermaid, A-Line, Empire.
Depending on your body shape, some recommendations are provided so you can dive straight into what works best.
I was also asked to provide my body measurements (download the measuring tape here). I expressed concern that this dress might be tight around the tummy area. Since they had my measurement, I was recommended size M. Thank goodness for the helpful staff, for if I had gone ahead without any help, I'd have chosen S based on absolute number.
This dress speaks of elegance with its sleek cut and a little girly fun with a gentle flare at the knee. Okie, the dress ends way above the model's knee. Since I am 20cm shorter, it ends at my knee. 😆 And it still looks nice! This dress is height-friendly for many people.
Look 3: Soft & Comfy
I paired the dress above with a knit sweater which basically goes with anything. It is made of super-soft knit fabrication and has a shawl collar.
MULTI PATTERN OPEN FRONT KNIT SWEATER -BLACK
Look 4: Dress Down Day
For the ultimate wardrobe staple, be sure to invest in a shirt dress. This timeless style will go with anything and everything and will never go out of fashion. Pair it with boots, gladiator sandals, wedges, sneakers for different looks.
ROLL TAB SLEEVE SHIRT DRESS W/ TWO TONES
If you're feeling preppy, button up the sleeves at the end to reveal the white sleeve, or roll them up for a more casual look.
I still love me some bright and printed statement pieces in my wardrobe, but I am increasingly gravitating towards classic, timeless pieces and Le Contour seems to carry plenty of that. Le Contour provides FREE worldwide shipping and has a return policy, so you can do an exchange if you got the wrong size. The prices might seem a little steep, but if you consider the fine quality and the fact that they're designed by emerging designers, and that these classic pieces will last you a long, long time, they're worth every buck.
I am excited for the new year! 😀
if I prefer to Dress Down Day
it fits really to my taste,, quite simple and not complicated.
With a view using denim dress is paired with white shoes in my opinion it was very casual at all. And still fit in use or in use by mothers who already have children to look younger.
