When Inglot first took the market by storm and I saw review after review of how impressive their gel liners are, how pigmented their eyeshadows are, how reasonably priced their products are, I sighed in resignation from knowing I would probably never get my hands on Inglot, or it’d take years for the Poland brand to arrive on our shores.
Then they opened one in Malaysia but as much as I love Sunway Lagoon, Kuala Lumpur was kinda far to go just to buy some Inglot.
To my delight, after some time, Inglot popped up in City Square Mall in Johor Bahru!!! If you travel during off-peak hours, you can reach JB by bus in less than 45 minutes from Woodlands Interchange, including customs. Due to my busy schedule, I went only a year after it was open and my first Inglot haul accumulated to more than RM420.00. That equates to about SGD175.00.
I’ll leave the review on Inglot eyeshadows, lip liner and lipstick for later. For now, let’s get going with the Inglot Matte Collection AMC Eyeliner Gel (that’s the full name) in 72, 82 and 87.
Plastic-ky Packaging
For a whopping 5.5g of product at RM52.00 = SGD22.00, it’s a lot more than what MAC Fluidline offers with 3g at SGD28.00. Inglot costs less than HALF of Mac if you take it by the unit.
The numerical indications instead of proper names irk me. It’s really hard to remember what number the teal shade is – 87, the periwinkle – 82, the pink – 72.
While I like that the Inglot ones come in a plastic jar with a plastic screw top, it could be precisely because of them being housed in the plastic material that makes them more susceptible to drying out fast.
Look at the cracks! =.=
72 - The Pink
82 - The Periwinkle
87 - The Teal
82 - The Periwinkle is my favorite shade among the three colored ones I got. It's very versatile, stylish and outstanding enough to make a statement, but not so blindingly noticeable that I feel embarrassed for looking too out of place. I've received countless compliments from wearing this! 😀
Face primer for the day was Lioele Sun Chiffon. Love it! 🙂
The Inglot staff said 72 - The Pink can also be used as a blush but I prefer to keep my face and eye makeup products separate.
Great Texture And Pigmentation
Inglot gel liners are incredibly creamy, literally. They’re much more like creams than gels! One swipe is usually enough to attain near-opacity but I always layer it on to get full opacity and shape precision.
They come in 20 gorgeously matte colors and work well as eyeliners and eyeshadow bases. If you’re creative, these will be great for drawing fancy artwork on the eyes and face. All three shades that I have have stayed very well on my oily eyelids.
20 gorgeous shades
I might want to try 74 - Dark Purple and 86 - Forest Green next.
Smooth But Application
In my opinion, they're easy enough to apply with their smooth and emollient texture.
To apply eyeliner, I use MAC 263 (available at amazon.com).
Alternatives:
- Sigma E65 - Small Angle Brush (available at dolltodoll.com)
- Sigma E05 – Eye Liner Brush (available at dolltodoll.com)
Nevertheless, I wouldn’t say the Inglot gel eyeliner is the easiest ever in existence to apply. Being extremely pigmented, it requires some practice to obtain the best balance so that you don’t end up applying a huge glob of product or applying too little that you have to layer on too much that the underlying layers crack.
It requires some fast correction or creative remodeling of the intended eyeliner shape if you make a blunder.
These Inglot gel liners would not be what I would reach for when I'm in a hurry because their slippery nature tend to require more concentration and a steadier hand. I love to use them when I'm feeling creative or want to focus on the eyeliner instead of eyeshadows.
Disappointed With 77
Apart from these three adventurous shades, I also got the obligatory black, which has been raved as the deepest, darkest black in the gel liner market, and goes on as creamily and smoothly as its colorful comrades.
Unfortunately, 77 - Black has worked nothing like its friends have for me. From the moment when I first used it, to the present where I would occasionally take it out to try in the hope of a miracle, I’ve never liked it one bit. NOT ONE BIT.
I'll be doing a separate review on the Inglot Gel Liner in 77 (Review here!). If I didn't buy the three other shades, I would think all the raving on the web about Inglot Gel Liners were fake.
Here's a preview of how the 77 swatches. Any guesses why I don't like the black?

Have you tried Inglot Gel Liners? Do you have it in your country? Any guesses why I don't like the black?
