You know that's not my eye. LOL.
A warm welcome to Min, guest eye for today! Wheeeeee wheet!!!
Every time Min and I meet up, she will scream at me “WHERE’S MY EYE! WHERE’S MY EYE!”. HAHA. These pictures were taken a good 9 months ago but I’ve always been busy with other projects or just something else.
Finally I can say, NAH! HERE’S YOUR EYE!!! 😀
Min was so nice to allow me to use her eye for this tutorial. We did this on a Sunday morning at her house, rather hurriedly, so don’t slam me for the unplucked eyebrows!
Blame Min. HAHA! Kidding! We’re always making fun of one another. Whenever we’re together, we’re like two little childish people. ‘Little’ because we are of almost the same height (I’m probably taller by like 1.5cm haha). EH! You also cannot be air stewardess! HAHAHA! 😆
Min’s my really good friend and she played a big part in the initial stages of designing the Bun Bun Makeup Tips website. She helped design my name card too!
I mentioned in the Vertical Gradient Method of Eyeshadow Application tutorial, as part of the Asian Eyeshadow Tutorials series, that this method works extremely well on hooded lids and monolids.
Let’s analyze Min’s eyes before we start.
According to my compilation of 14 different Asian eye types, Min’s eyes are:
- Wide-set
- Thin and narrow (slightly)
- Down-turned (very slightly, mostly because the skin above is pressing her eyes down)
- Puffy
Min has double eyelids, or a fold on the lid, but they are hidden entirely by the fat underneath the lids that causes more protrusion compared to let’s say, my eyes. Most Asians have more fatty lids than Caucasians, thus the occurrence of hooded lids or monolids (lids without a fold). Min also has obvious epicanthal folds.
I used on Min the exact makeup materials that I used in the 8th tutorial of 8 Days of Christmas Eye Makeup Tutorials series.
Let's start!
Step 1: Prime the lids. This is especially for oily lids like Min's and mine. I used UDPP Eden and NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk.
Step 2: Apply The Face Shop Eyeshadow PK-103 on entire eyelid
Step 3: Apply NYX Irises below PK-103. Blend Irises and PK-103 so that there is no demarkation
Step 4: Apply Speed Blue from Kat Von D Beethoven Palette nearest to the lash line. Blend Speed Blue and Irises. Highlight brow bone with NYX White Pearl.
Step 5: Apply Hustle from Urban Decay Palette on lower lash line.
I filled her brows here with NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown. I didn't bring any brow grooming tools and this girl doesn't have any in her house. She doesn't care about her brows, I tell you. Tsk tsk.
Also notice that when Min looks straight ahead, the entire double eyelid is covered so I winged the darkest layer (Speed Blue) to show a little bit of it. So pretty! This is great for people who don't have time to apply eyeliner; this last layer can act as your eyeliner! Quick and easy too!
Step 6: Apply eyelash primer - Shiseido Nourishing Mascara Base, and mascara - Lancome Oscillation Vibrating Infinite Powermascra
This look was done so quickly, including all the taking of photos and she was like "HUH? So fast?". Haha, yes, that's what I LOVE about the Vertical Gradient method. It can be completed so quickly and looks really pretty.
I'm so glad I finally got around to creating this post. Long overdue, I know! I hope you've enjoyed and learnt something from it! 😀
*****
I'm so grateful to have Min in my life. We share a really precious and happy friendship. I mean, just look at her! So cute! See already also will feel happy. =D
We make each other laugh all the time, share the same dislike for certain people (LOL), find humor in the same things and love Bun Bun very much. She always looks on the bright side of things and understands my obsession over alignment, and makes fun of it, of course. Hahaha. Love this girl to bits!
Oh yes! You must have seen her in my Halloween Geisha Adventures post too. (Geisha makeup tutorial here.)
Min is actually just very slightly darker than me. But my ivory-porcelain Geisha skin made her look quite tanned in comparison. LOL.
Random picture below of our department group photo for DND 2 years ago. Our group chose the Goth theme. We stunned everyone with our detailed theme, makeup (*ahem* by yours truly) and attitude. Fun times!
Yes, that's a belt I'm holding. Pretty kinky huh? 😛
We won Best Performance for our act. We entered the completely dark hotel room in hooded cloaks, holding candles, to the tunes of Evanescence - Bring Me To Life, and I did some kinky stuff with the belt. Go ahead and let your imagination run wild. HAHAHA. The spread of tidbits in the bottom right picture of the collage shows our prize.
- Abrupt End - lol
