It’s a good thing I always write down, somewhere, the products used for makeup looks. I knew I would be less shy to put up more makeup looks one day. Yup, I have trouble with putting pictures of myself up on my own blog. I’m shy.
It’s just so weird seeing photos of myself on my blog, even though I have thousands of them on facebook. Maybe it’s because in those photos, I’m not smiling by myself into the camera, or taking close-up shots of my eye/brow/cheek/lip.
Besides, it’s so much harder to take photos of oneself! There’s always something wrong - stray strands of hair falling over the eyebrow, some fleck of dust sitting on the cheek, a tiny crumble of biscuit on the lip. For every photo selected, I have just about 20 variations of that, maybe tilting one degree to the left, or twelve degrees to the right. Gah!
I think I just have to get used to it.
So let’s start with a colorful look I did some time ago, when I still had my curly hair (gawd, looking at these photos make me miss them so much!).

Eye Makeup Tutorial
Swipe Urban Decay Primer Potion on the eyelid and brow bone, and spread it all over the eye from lash line to brow bone using your finger.
Using the 239 eyeshadow brush, apply Sin eyeshadow on the inner 1/3 of lid, extend to the inner corner of the eye and lower inner 1/3 of lash line.
Apply Goldmine lightly over Sin to create a light gold effect.
Pat Parfait Amour on the middle 1/3 of the lid with the 239 brush, blending into the combination of Sin and Goldmine at the contour area.
Apply Poison on the outer 1/3 of the lid, blending into Parfair Amour. Also extend Poison all the way to the contour area, which is above the crease (Asian makeup technique), so that when you open your eyes, Poison can still be seen. Blend Poison into the combination of Sin and Goldline.
Using the 219 pencil brush, apply Morocco on the outer-V of the lid for definition. Blend well so that are no hard edges or obvious transition from one color to another.
Sweep Shroom as a highligher on the brow bone with the elf eyeshadow brush.
For the lower lashline, apply Poison on the outer 1/3 of lash line, Parfait Amour on the middle lash line. Blend Poison and Parfait Amour together (outer 1/3 and middle), and Parfait Amour and Sin together (middle and inner 1/3).
To complete the eye makeup, apply Blacktrack on the upper lashline. Curl your lashes with the Eyelash Curler, then apply the Nourishing Mascara Base and The Falsies Volum’ Express Waterproof.
Add false lashes for a more dramatic effect.
Cheeks
Using the 168 brush, apply Gold-Go-Lightly lightly (lol) on the temples, blending towards the forehead and on the hollows of the cheeks.
Sweep Orgasm from the apples of the cheeks towards the temples. Blend Orgasm well with Gold-Go-Lightly to create a smooth transition from one color to the other.
Lightly dust Too Chic on the highest point of the cheekbones with the 188 brush.
Lips
Apply a lip moisturizer and finish the lips with Sweetheart.
And done!
My friend was just telling me the other day that she gets a headache whenever she's presented with more than 2 or 3 colors at any one time (much like the unfortunate episode with the incompetent 'makeup coach' employed by Majolica Majorca, no?), and that Asians usually cannot carry more than 3 colors on their lids.
But as you can see, colorful eye makeup CAN work for Asians too! You just need to get the technique right, know where to apply eyeshadow, and practise. Don't be afraid to experiment with colors too!
What's the worst that could happen? It's just makeup, you can always remove it! XD
